AM3D to Focus on Additive Manufacturing Topics and Issues Next Month AM3D to Focus on Additive Manufacturing Topics and Issues Next Month AM3D to Focus on Additive Manufacturing Topics and Issues Next MonthJuly 22, 2016 The ASME Additive Manufacturing + 3D Printing Conference Expo (AM3D) - the only cross-industry event designed specifically for the engineering community - is just a month away. The conference, which takes place from Aug. 21 to 24 in Charlotte, N.C., will encompass a variety of keynotes, technical presentations, panel sessions and workshops addressing the issues, challenges and solutions associated with each stage of the additive manufacturing (AM) lifecycle.AM3D will be held in conjunction with ASMEs International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers Information in Engineering Conference (IDETC/CIE) at the Charlotte Convention Center.AM3D will kick off on Sunday, Aug. 21, with several workshops designed to help attendees hone their AM skills. The workshops include the Design for AM Workshop, the Topology Optimization Workshop, the Understanding MBD and MBE Workshop, and the Simulation for AM Design Workshop. ansicht workshops are included with full conference registration or with one-day registration.The conference keynote session on Aug. 22 promises to be a highpoint of the conference. The keynote, to be held from noon to 200 p.m., will feature presentations from two additive manufacturing VIPs. The first of these presentations, Closing the Gap Between the Design and Additive Manufacturing Process, will be given by Jose Coronado of PTC. Coronado, who has more than 25 years of experience in the manufacturing industry including 15 years at IBM Mexico, joined PTC and is currently a product manager for the CREO Manufacturing application, which includes additive manufacturing capabilities. The second part of the keynote, Multiscale Modeling in Support of Virtual AM, will be presented by Reza Sadeghi, managing dir ector at Dassault Systmes. He has more than 20 years of experience in executive management, strategic planning, portfolio management, and mergers and acquisitions. Sadeghi was the former chief technology officer for MSC Software, where led the strategy, global product management and development initiatives that were responsible for 95 percent of the companys revenues.Nearly 40 other experts from the field of AM are expected to speak during the three-day conference. Panel sessions at AM3D include Additive Manufacturing Users - Industry Roundtable, with Stacey DelVecchio from Caterpillar, Bill Bihlman from Aerolytics and Andrew Imrie from Lloyed Register AM Software, Features and Capabilities, featuring Spencer Wright of nTopology, Darren Henry from Onshape, Jesse Blankenship from Frustum Inc. and Krishnan Suresh of SciArt and Additive Manufacturing Across the Department of Defense, with Jennifer Wolk from the Office of Naval Research, Ronald Adrezin of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Jeffrey Rhoads of Purdue University and Dan Berrigan from the Air Force Research Lab.
